RE: Lights not working with Batt.

plugged the white plug back together the. everything was set up in the camper. the relay connects to the black wire from the battery. all of the driving lights worked while in tow and the interior light worker only when plugged in checked the battery with a volt meter their was 12+ volts at the battery. If you've checked the battery with a volt meter I'm sure you've gone further. But just in case, Have you checked for battery voltage at various points between the battery and the converter? Have you also verified if the ground is good? I would probably start by checking for battery voltage between the positive terminal on the battery and a ground on the trailer (I would not use the negative on the battery)There should be a screw driven into the tongue that you can use. If not try touching the tongue jack to see if it provides a ground. Once you have ground verified you can go back to the negative post on the battery and start checking the wires wherever you can to see how far the voltage is getting. You might even consider spending 3-5 dollars on a spool of wire so you can extend from the negative post of the battery back to various points on the trailer.

RE: Blown Kitchen water line!

We had a similar experience last year when one of the hoses to the sink sprung a leak while were traveling the country. Not the sink itself, but a hose from the pump to the sink. Fortunately, mine are easier to get to than yours seem to be. I fixed it using a 5-ft dishwasher supply hose and an adapter from a plumbing supply place. Cost me less than $10. Was the supply hose different sizes at the ends? Maybe if we took the entire faucet, and lines hookup to a plumbing place they could suggest something like you did? DH says it would be so much easier and cheaper just to put a new line in. thanks for your reply! It would depend on where the leak is. If it's a leaky hose I would replace the hose and be done with it. Did the repairman give a good reason why to replace the faucet?

RE: Flipping the axle under the springs

That is called "flipping the axles" although you really don't flip them over. It is a very common modification on many rigs with low clearance. Barney Yeah I was thinking that after I posted it . . Buddy said it was called a coil over ... but theres no coils to go over. Anyone encountered any problems doing this ? Buddy meant spring over. Coil over is a type of shock and coil spring in one unit. many off road race cars use coil over suspension. As far as issues, I've never done the job but you will need to weld new spring perches onto the axles. Dexter axle sells a kit on their website for around $50. Your local dealer or welding shop should be able to help you out if you don't have welding access.

RE: Breaking clearance light

It is not a result from hitting something else I store the trailer in side yard and open it in same location. I would coonsider the kid next door witha BB gun. When the trailer is popped up he has a target. When it is down the target is behind the fence. ;)

Why is this posted as a pop-up? I don't see anything folding about it. it's on the bottom of the page under icamp-lite

RE: Strong Propane Gas Smell Coming from Furnace Exhaust

I had a problem keeping the pilot lit on my oven also. What I found (ok maybe my DW really found it) is that the pilot would get blown out if I opened the oven door too quickly. I haven't had a problem with the pilot since.

RE: Brake controller set up

What is the 7th (aux) for? Do I really need it? Also, how do I tie into the 12V? What kind of fuse setup do I need? Thanks again all...... I'm going to go out on a limb and answer without researching. If I recall correctly the center pin is typically used (but it's not common) for backup lights.

RE: Old- fashioned camping ethics

Aren't forums great? Where else do you get to learn about what all different kinds of people think about a topic. I agree with you about backpacking because wood is harder to come by than just stopping at the ranger station. But my opinion is different with car camping. I believe that the firewood left behind during car camping is because the people brought more than they needed and don't want to bother taking it back home. I've know I've done that many times. I've also seen the ranger/camp host pick up all the leftover wood and throw it back on their pile to be sold again. So if the previous owner abandoned it in the campground I don't see any problem with someone else in the campground taking it for their fire.

RE: filling toilet

What hose do you use when filling your toilet when there is not enough black water in your tank? I may have read this wrong but I think the poster might be a bit confused and is wondering how to flush the toilet if there is no water in the fresh water tank in order to fill the bowl. Just to clarify the toilet uses water from the fresh water tank to flush. Once you flush, the waste water from the bowl drops into the black tank. If this is the actual question you can use almost any water container to pour water into the bowl I've used bottled water in a pinch when the kids absolutely have to go and the tank fresh water is already drained. How's that for an expensive toilet flush? :) Now on the other hand, if the original poster is asking how to add water to the black tank after flushing then the above responses are all good ones.

RE: Brake controller set up

Well everyone answered correctly but I just couldn't resist stating it another way. Your factory 4-way connector contains four wires. ground tail light left turn right turn Your 7 way plug can use the same 4 wires as stated above. In addition you will have to add (Ford may have already done this) two more wires, Charge Brakes I would not try to plug into your existing 4-way connector to provide power to your 7-way. You should hard wire the 7-wire into your existing factory wiring harness. What I did for mine was I went to Wal-Mart and bought a 7 wire connector that also had a 4 wire connector built in. Here's a link to the manufacturer. I couldn't find a way to link the actual part but you can use the part locator to pull up a 2004 Explorer with factory 7-way plug. (yes I know the OP stated he did not have a factory 7 way plug.) click here I cut the end off the new plug and the end off my old 4-way plug. I then hooked the proper wires together and added the two extras (brake and charge) and everything was good to go.

RE: drycamping for the first time at the end of this summer

I've never been to an event like that but I would suggest you buy or borrow a carbon monoxide detector. If the rigs are parked close you don't want to get gassed out or worse by your neighbors genset exhaust.

RE: Stuff missing after manufacturer warranty work

I wouldn't be happy either if my stuff disappeared. Did you yet get back to them to say that no the stuff is not at home and was in the trailer? I know the representative said they don't remove anything but that sounds like an automatic reaction because they weren't sure what to say at the time. (I'm not saying it's right or wrong just my opinion) But, I don't see it as likely that they replaced the vinyl floor in the storage bay without removing your gear. While it may have been stolen it's also just as likely that it's stacked in an out of the way corner and forgotten. I would definitely give them another call with as detailed a description of the gear as you can provide. If they can't come up with it after that I would start demanding they replace it.

RE: RVing by Train

I briefly looked into that copper canyon vacation website. The rub was that you only loaded onto the train for a short time. The rest of the trip was just standard driving you own rig in a convoy of other rigs. It seemed to me that they were just taking a picture of the best part and leaving out the rest.

RE: Alternative mattresses for pups???

Thank You ALL!! There are alot of great responces and meanwhile I was doing some investigating and there is a company in Milwaukee that sells foam....whatever size and thinckness you want. The owner said that they do it all the time for PUP owners! Thanks to everyone!! When you talk to them find out about the different densities of foam. if it's too soft your hip will sink right down to the wood platform. Where I bought my foam the Blue stuff was too soft and the yellow high density stuff was just right.

RE: We just picked it up on Saturday, and THIS already!

Glad the electrical got fixed, that would have been a hard one to find. it also sounds like the dealer is going above and beyond for you. I don't think my car dealer will drive out to my house to fix my warranty work.

RE: Factory order screwed up – need advice

If the door panel has to be replaced they will probably have to order it. My guess is that you will go to the dealer tomorrow and drive home in your new truck with a due bill for replacing the mirrors with the correct ones. When the parts come in they will call you and schedule an appointment to get them swapped out. I don't know your dealer but I also don't think you will have any problems with it.

RE: 7 pin plug & dielectric grease?

I think dielectric grease is the correct stuff to use. You might have to get some electrical contact cleaner and wash the old hardened grease out. then just replace it with new grease and go about your happy way.
